I, We, World Model
01 - ABOUT

A think-and-do lab for a complex world.

The Audacity Lab is a 'think-and-do' lab where bold ideas are tested in the real world. We work alongside communities, researchers, and partners to explore new models for belonging, leadership, and systems change.

Informed by patterns and behaviors we see in nature — where resilience, adaptation, and learning emerge over time.

Today's challenges don't have simple solutions. They require experimentation, collaboration, and the courage to learn in public. Some of our experiments grow into long-term programs. Others teach us critical insights. All of them help us learn what works — thoughtfully, ethically, and alongside the communities they impact.

02 - HOW WE WORK

We're guided by values that live
through practice, not just words.

Each principle is a verb — an act of participation in the unfolding system of change. They are how we stay grounded in movement, humility, and creativity.

Expertise Lies with Local Actors

Communities hold deep knowledge about their own lives. We enter as learners, not experts. Real, lasting change comes from the ground up — rooted in place, trust, and relationship.

Partnering with Syncronicity

We pay attention to timing, alignment, and emergence. Rather than forcing outcomes, we cultivate the conditions for ideas to unfold naturally — like a murmuration finding its shape.

Better Together

Complex challenges require collective intelligence. The most resilient solutions emerge from genuine collaboration across difference — no single perspective holds the whole truth.

Montessori on Wheels

Through mobile classrooms, family learning, and deep partnership, Montessori on Wheels (MOW) creates joyful, hands-on access to Montessori for children and families who have been pushed to the margins of traditional education.

Up with Africa

Our work is already underway through Up With Africa (UW/A), our flagship initiative. UW/A works alongside community-based organizations and local households to understand how people build stability, dignity, and opportunity in their daily lives.

Tracking the Universe

We track the universe by staying close to what's emerging — monitoring signals across wellbeing, advancing technologies, and the intersection of people, animals, and community to spot the patterns that might shape what comes next.

03 - CURRENT WORK

The Lab in Action

Some experiments grow into long-term programs. Others point toward what comes next. All of them move the work forward.

Dispatches from the Lab

Ongoing reflections from collaborators, communities, and experiments connected to The Audacity Lab.

JANUARY 2026

By the River, Remembering What We Already Know!

BY TATENDA BLESSING MUCHIRIRI

What if Montessori isn't a Western import, but a philosophy Africa has practiced for generations? A reflection on Ubuntu, indigenous pedagogy, and what it means to raise children with dignity, trust, and community.

Listening at the Edges of a System

BY HILLARY AGWE

When conflict halfway across the world drives up fuel prices in rural Uganda, it's the farmer who feels it first. A dispatch from the ground on what rising costs mean for planting season — and why the distance between a city and a farm matters more than most people realize.
